As the metal fence under the Stanley #79 plane more than once ripped the sharp outside corners of the stripes while planing them i modified the plane exchanging the metal fence for a wooden plate made from Sapeli.
In making the wooden plate a little bit longer and wider than the plane i also increased the controllability of the plane and at the same time made the tilting less agressive as the wooden guide would span a wider area on the stripes, thereby smoothing the angles over the run of the boat.
